Sensex dips 323 pts; Nifty trades at 11,500

Domestic bourses were trading in red during the late noon trading session witnessing a sudden decline in the last hour of the session on Friday.

Meanwhile, shares of pharma major Dr Reddy’s Laboratories were trading nearly 12 per cent higher after the company said it has settled its patent litigation with Celgene for the latter's cancer drug capsules.

The rupee strengthened by 21 paise to close at 73.45 against the US dollar on Friday as weak American currency and positive domestic equities buoyed investor sentiment.

At 14:38 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 38979.85 down by -323 points or by -0.82 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11504.1 down by -12 points or by -0.1 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 39234.81 and intraday low of 38926.34 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11584.1 and intraday low of 11463.1

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 488.60,+2.04%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 802.80,+2.01%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 649.30,+1.91%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 520.10,+1.61%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 73.90,+1.09%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1270.90,-2.64%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1056.10,-2.51%), State Bank of India (Rs. 190.65,-2.48%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 605.60,-1.91%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 5909.15,-1.62%), among others.

Among the sectors, IT index was at 16465.01 up by 84.67 points or by 0.52%. Ramco Systems Ltd. (Rs. 378.05,+5.00%), AXISCADES Engineering Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 55.55,+4.91%), Nelco Ltd. (Rs. 207.50,+4.25%), Kellton Tech Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 48.80,+4.05%), Nucleus Software Exports Ltd. (Rs. 589.80,+2.94%),.

Realty index was at 1757.48 down by -33.46 points or by -1.87%. Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. (Rs. 244.30,-2.63%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 259.00,-1.61%), Sunteck Realty Ltd. (Rs. 282.05,-0.14%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 630.65,-0.06%),.
